Oh yes, overall it's a not bad drive... and there are a lot of good things about the GT series. In no way am I a 'hater', I'm closer to a fanboy having played huuuge amounts of GT from 1 to 4. We're not saying the whole thing sucks by any means, just discussing an issue that's rather important to us.
I have noticed a few little good improvements, like the grass is slippery now, and you can't just maintain the same speed round a bend on the grass like always And gravel is slow to get out of... so people are going to have to be a little more careful to stay on track. Lots of good things too And the graphics in GT5P are just stunning.
We're not talking about GT5P... It's quite different. Holding a drift in GT5P isn't that hard, and there is also the 'drift' mode with different physics which makes it even easier. What the guy in the GT5P video is doing there is very easy indeed. Doing anything beyond the limit of grip in the GT5 demo is not.
Yeah I agree with you for sure. With the gamepad it didn't seem that bad, I guess because the steering is assisted and if you get any amount of opposite lock on it will help you out. But trying the stock version with road tires with the G25... wow, not good :P Up to the limit it feels not bad... and if you get into a tiny slide it's ok. But if you step over the mark and get properly sideways it's a huge pain in the ass to recover. Even in the slowest 2nd gear corners where you think "oh I'll give it some gas to have a little sideways fun a low speed" it wants to spin on you instantly. A front engined rwd road car with road tires and decent torque is not all that hard to hold sideways in real life. And if you get out of line accidentally, correcting is not near impossible. But in this, the combination of questionable physics and FF that doesn't really let you know what's going on makes it a real challenge.
It feels a lot less like a dead fish than GT5P did, but I am finding it equally bad, just in different ways
And if you haven't tried it with a wheel, trust me it is quite different! After using it with the gamepad it definitely felt not bad.... but with a wheel it should feel easier to control at and beyond the limit, in my experience it felt worse.
As for real life experience... in the tightest 2nd gear corners on the Indy track, it's very similar speed to the fastest sweeper in pretty much every autox event I've driven. In most of the rwd cars I've driven, I've had some sideways fun in the 2nd gear sweeper in autox... 911 GT3, Corvette, 400whp 240SX, 350Z, turbo miata, etc etc... And none of them have been difficult to hold sideways through that. Even when the 911 stepped out accidentally once with race tires on, it wasn't too hard to gather it back up. In fact I've never spun a car in autox, and that's having gone over the limit many times in many cars. Yet in a similar speed turn with the 370Z, a poke of the throttle for some sideways fun ends in a spin 90% of the time.
Yes, quite boring for the most part! I am looking at a wagon as I really need a practical vehicle and I love the space these provide... I might get an older 940 or 960, which are rwd, but don't have much power. Or a newer 850 or V70, which on the downside are fwd but on the upside have a bit more poke. If I could find a reasonably priced V70 T5, they actually have 230hp which would be nice. But ultimately never going to be exciting cars :P Though I will probably keep my MX-5 and definitely keep my motorbike, so I have the thrills covered...
Yeah I've been in the same situation. I got a year subscription recently and really haven't played in months. Other stuff happening... and then L4D2 came out... and then more other stuff... just played it again tonight for the first time in probably 3 months.
I disagree.... I remember buying a 16MB compact flash card in the not hugely distant past... now for less money you can get an 16GB micro SD card that's smaller than a finger nail. That I find pretty mind boggling. There are a lot of little things like that that make me go, wow, things really have changed. Also I remember our first pentium computer being a P100, with 16MB of ram and something like a 500MB HD... now we have cell phones with more, and that does still impress me.
Even over a shorter timeframe I'm seeing changes that I still find pretty impressive.
Glad I'm not the only one that finds these changes impressive! I do seriously find a 16GB memory card smaller than my finger nail just incredible... I just can't comprehend how it's possible, haha And these things are so cheap now!
I have always had v-sync on, assuming it would be smoother given it's matching to the monitor refresh rate, but I've never really noticed a difference having it on or off.
Thanks. Yeah, borrowed a friends go pro cam Also got some video!
I haven't heard of these things... I just use bootcamp and it works fine! Are there better features of these other ways of doing it though? Or does it work any better?
This sounds like a good thing... but I have no idea what it means haha.
I love how people can take a stand against someone who has decided to put locking wheel nuts on their car. FFS get a life or at least find something a little more interesting to take issue with.
I met Eddie Izzard after watching him do stand up in Vancouver. Had a very brief chat and got some stuff signed. But really, like anyone else, he's just another person... I did wait a while to see him after his show, but really I wouldn't do anything like that again unless the person was my absolute idol.
Can you not think of any situations where police respond to situations where lives are at risk? :P Maybe not because of medical emergencies as with medical vehicles, but there are many many situations police respond to where there are lives may be at risk.
I think the end of each campaign is when realism mode is really gonna hurt Or like you say, on a harder difficulty. Playing with 3 friends, we are finding that advanced difficulty is not too bad, apart from the ends of campaigns being a bit of a struggle. Once we've run through the game a couple more times though I think we'll give expert a go and see if we can get through. And hopefully realism mode sometime too
One thing I found funny is that the London Olympics were happening during all of the end of the world stuff... even though I don't think the summer olympics will be happening in December :P
